• Utilize evidence-based structured literacy instruction.
• Screen students early when reading difficulties are suspected.
• Monitor progress regularly through data collection and assessment.
• Provide explicit instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Collaborate with families, interventionists, and specialists to support student success.
• Understand that dyslexia is a neurobiological learning difference and that students with dyslexia can thrive when provided appropriate instruction and intervention.
Teachers can identify warning signs and refer students for support, but a formal diagnosis of dyslexia must be completed by a qualified professional. Classroom observations, screeners, and intervention data are valuable pieces of information but are not diagnostic on their own.
